At East Dubuque, the Iowa division Passed East Cabin, went through a curved 835' tunnel, crossed the BN double track Twin Cities mainline and then crossed the 1750 foot bridge over the Mississippi River...all in about a mile! The 13 miles between East Dubuque and Portage was owned by the ICG with the BN having trackage rights. BN purchased the westbound mainline in 1992, East Cabin was closed in 1994 and control transferred to the BN dispatching center in Ft. Worth, TX. |
