Built in May 1971 for Louisville & Nashvill as LN 1249 SD40, to SBD 8324, to CSX 8324 then retired. Purchased by Morrison-Knudsen in 1990 and rebuilt initially as MPI 9040 SD40M-2, transferred to MKCX 9040, then back to MPI 9040 until May 1996 when this diesel was sold to Helm as HLCX 9049. In this photo MKCX 9040 is idling in Centennial Yard on lease to Union Pacific. |
