Often my train chases would take me as far as Silver Springs, about 135 miles from my house. It was a good location, and mostly an easy chase to that point. West of there, it was slow going, so I usually quit there. Sometimes R&S would have a unit or two there, such as this day when I caught a pair of hand me downs while waiting for a train on the Soutnern Tier Line. |

The one and only R&S train I ever saw has completed its work at Silver Springs and is now headed back to Rochester. It is passing the signals at CP Silver Springs, and will shortly diverge from the Southern Tier Line. The hand me down power was typical of R&S in that era, and the ex NW unit is giving away its heritage beneath the B&P stenciling. |
