Conrail early on did a rebuild program for RS 3s where they took old EMD 567 engines, primarily from E units, rebuilt them and installed them in RS 3 bodies, eventually totalling 100 units. Here one of them pulls a cut of cars at County Road crossing at Croxton Yard. In about two more minutes, the Southern boxcar behind the unit would derail. |

The cut of cars that CR 9943 was pulling across County Rd had a small problem. The Southern box car right behind the engine picked a switch and wound up spread over two tracks. They had another yard engine pull the rest of the train back into the yard, and commenced tryng to rerail the box, but an hour later, they were still having at it, since it did not seem to want to get back up on the rails. Just another day at the office!! |

Conrails stack trains got out of Croxton overnight, but were usually held at Sloatsburg for the inbound commuter trains. This got them to Port Jervis around mid morning. Its about 1030 and TV 303 is making its crew change and will be on its way up the Delaware momentarily. Of note, the obelisk on the mountain top in the distance is the highest point in New Jersey, in appropriately named High Point State Park. It sits at 1803 feet above sea level. |

I have a shot here of TV 301 in the winter, which is much wider open. The trees with leaves really close in the shot, though in this colorful time of year, ill take it. The train is about to pass under PA 191 as it makes its way toward NY state. |

Actually west of the summit, TV 301 is still pulling as its head end starts downgrade into Pennsylvania, which it will cross into in about five more minutes. The road over the summit crosses the tracks here, and will stay on the south side til just before Starrucca Viaduct. |

BUOI is working the Hillburn yard, just west of Suffern on the former Erie, just 31 miles from Jersey City. The third unit, 6640 shares a number with an ex BN F45 on the NYSW. I saw both within a couple of weeks of each other. Never caught them at the same time, though. |
