Album Info:Allentown yard saw little change following Conrail’s formation, and throughout the 1980’s. Operation volumes shifted from high in the late 1970’s to almost empty by the end of 1988. Under NS control in May, 2016, however, Allentown yard was again in heavy use with many yard tracks loaded. Withstanding technology improvements, the small hump office remained in use much the same as during Conrail’s early years. Sadly, once vast overviews of the main yard were now hidden by heavy overgrowth all along the yard. Note: Each image's photo date was added within each Description field. In order to present an organized historical comparison within the album, all Photo Date fields were listed as 5/28/16 to match the date of the most recent images in the album.
