Description:  I was good at finding roads that followed the tracks; sometimes it paid off. One such was MO 171 north of Joplin, which followed the KCS for a short distance between there and the Kansas line. There was a siding there, at which I caught a meet of a southbound intermodal and an empty coal train.

Sunny spot

Description:  Once the sun gets low, there are not a lot of places to get a train in sun along the line. This location a mile or so south of Anderson gets the light longer than anywhere nearby, so its a good place to catch the action, even if its not the most scenic. An empty 123 car AEPX coal train rolls north, racing the sun, as it heads for KC and the Union Pacific. Note both units end in "42".

Description:  Well, probably the last one Ill see here. Class unit KCS 3900 leading the Q KCSH splits the side by side searchlights at MP 187 near Anderson Mo late in the afternoon of Feb 26 2012. New signals have been going up in a steady southward pace, and the new lights can be seen on the ground here. Gentry and Siloam Springs got new home signals during the week of 02/20. This one is not long for the world.
