Viewing Album:  A fleet of Conrail U-boats at Selkirk in August, 1979

Album Info:Many of Conrail’s U-boat fleet lined the engine terminal and service tracks at Selkirk in the summer of ‘79. While a quartet of aging U25Bs worked the yard, a number of U30Bs, U33Bs, U23Cs, U25Cs, U28C’s, and a pair of young B23-7’s waited for assignment on this bright August day. A pair of ex-EL GP35s, SD40s, and SD40-2’s were joined by a GP38-2, a GP40-2, and an SD45 to represent the EMD minority that day. CR MT6 1110 was the only remaining Alco at Selkirk, but sadly had been converted from an RSD12 to a road slug by August, 1979.
