Album Info:This album includes photos my dad and I caught after church on the 5th Day of our Galesburg Trip. This album features trains around the Galesburg and Cameron, IL areas. Our original plan was to follow the Mendota Sub to Mendota, but plans changed drastically when the trains started pouring non-stop into town. Enjoy!

Description:  Today marks Day 5 of our Galesburg RR Days Outing. This morning we went to church and started heading back east towards home today. The original goal was to follow the Mendota Sub east out of town to Mendota where we would end the day, but plans changed that as trains began to converge on Galesburg throughout the day. We began the morning by going to church and then starting the day just west of town on the Transcon where there are several older BNSF engines (many of which are in BN or ATSF paint) are being stored, awaiting to be put back into service, or awaiting a scrap yard. It would have been awesome to have gotten closer to these engines, but this was the closest I was able to get.

Description:  We decided to head back to the yard because we had recieved word that NS 1072, the Illinois Terminal Heritage Unit, was 4th out on a manifest awaiting permission to head east towards Streator (which would later become NS 10R). To our suprise, a lot had changed in the yard. Plenty of different engines from yesterday. Right on the first track on the bridge, there was a 7 pack of Geeps, 2 Widecab, and 5 standard cabs sitting underneath the bridge

Description:  Sure enough, sitting on the Quincy Sub on the other side of the bridge was the freight with the Illinois Terminal heritage unit 4th out. There was a road that followed the tracks, but the brush and power lines blocked it out kind of. So we got what we could.

Description:  We left the yard to get to a location to catch the Illinois Terminal coming out of the yard. Though when we got out a lot of trains were coming in on the Ottumwa Sub (aka the bypass). When we got up to the bypass AMTK 4, the eastbound Southwest Chief, was dropping the gates. An eastbound sand train was already sitting there. Thankfully we got out just in time to catch them both

Description:  A rebuilt CP AC4400CW (now AC44C4M) trails 2nd on the oil train. They sure look a lot nicer with the Beaver logo on them than some of the "newer" engines. The Beaver logo was recently introduced back to CP and will now be sported on all the rebuilt and new engines that CP orders. The AC4400CWs were starting to look crummy so it definitely was about time to rebuild and repaint them.
