On the Siding
Title:  On the Siding
Description:  After the engineer turned the ditch lights off and changed to the 548, the crew brought the engines back on the siding to service the Tyson Feed Mill after lining the switch and derail. I stopped traffic and they brought the engines on across.

Title:  Jenks Blue
Description:  The old Mo-Pac Jenks Blue was showing through very good on the trucks of this tired ex-MP Geep. As a little side note, this unit was actually built as a Rock Island Unit, but was sold to the MP after the RI filed for bankruptcy, shut down, liquidated, and bit the dust.

Title:  Eastbound UP Local Train
Description:  UP Train LSI55 01 comes across the Castor River just south (compass west) of Morehouse as it heads towards Highway 60 at 30 mph. It sure makes quite a sight and sound on the jointed rail. Today this is all just an empty ROW. The line was torn out in 2010 and 2011.

Description:  Across a cotton patch the QNLCH 10 with one of the Last 2 CNW's heads north towards Chicago. It was about a quarter mile south of the North Dexter Crew Change Point. I hope the CNW's outlast this crop of cotton in this cotton field. There was a little bit of dust from a crew van in the photo.

Northbound UP Manifest Train
Title:  Northbound UP Manifest Train
Description:  Rocketing out of Idalia after a crew change at North Dexter is CNW 8701, one of the Last 2 CNW's on the point of UP Train QNLCH 10, which left North Little Rock, AR the night before at 23:23.

The 8701 had been in UP's Jenks Shops at North Little Rock, AR since 3-31-06 and spent over 2 months there for maintenance. At the time it was feared that this engine was being repainted or renumbered, when in actuality the engine was not modified from its CNW appearance, other than the shop forces TOUCHED UP the green along the hood and the yellow Scotchlite.

I figured I'd post a couple of the other remaining CNW unit, since its sister, 8646 has been hanging around my general area for a while now.

Description:  I went down to Malden Jct. to catch UP Train ZYCHOB 09 coming around the curve while on the phone to Site Contributor Jim Haguewood. The train had 37 loads, and 0 empties, 37 total cars. It was 3,157 tons and 4,706 feet long. Just a couple hours ago I saw CNW 8701, what an awesome railfanning morning!

Title:  Frisco Black River Bridge
Description:  This the former Frisco Hoxie Branch. The line ran from Hoxie, AR to Delta, MO where it joined another Frisco Line to Cape Girardeau that is now gone. The other line there is the present day BNSF River Sub. Trains haven't used this bridge since 1965.

Title:  Southbound Auto Train With SD40 Power
Description:  After seeing this train leave Malden, MO Alex and I chased it down here when I saw the ex-SP Tunnel Motor leading UP Train ADEWF 15. Everything after the 2nd car is in Missouri and is crossing the St. Francis River Bridge into Arkansas. The engine was almost on home rails today on the Old Cotton Belt, so it was neat to see a unit with no nose patch on the SSW. You can also see the "Welcome to Missouri" Sign to the left on US 62. UP 8861 was retired on 11-14-07.

Description:  One of the Original 4 SD70ACe's came in on UP Train MNLPF 18 and parked the power on the wye and were idling loudly. Site Contributor Craig Meador called me so I headed to town and photographed them. This was the Second SD70ACe Ever Built and I've been looking for a Demo for 3 years now and I finally got one! The trailing unit was SD40T-2 ex-UP nee-SP GECX 2873, what a pair!

Title:  Northbound Auto Train With NS SD70 2517
Description:  Now on the move UP Train ASHAS 18 that we saw at Ives gets on the Chester Sub. at Dexter Jct., and comes up to the crew change. A train led by CN 5542 rolled south while this train was blocking the crossing so I chased it.

Description:  About 2 miles south of town I overtook UP Train ASMSH 19 and pulled off. It passed behind a northbound in Dexter. The lead unit was showing white classification lights on.
