Album Info:WSOR provides the vast majority of the train action in the rail hub of Rock County. It remains an interesting regional railroad under Watco ownership although there have been quite a few changes. UP serves a few industries around town and runs the occasional unit grain train through to the Landmark Co-op at Evansville via their Harvard Sub from Proviso, although their traffic is a shell of what it was before the GM plant closed in 2008. CP makes cameo appearances via their ex-SOO/IMRL/IC&E branch line up from Davis Jct./Rockford, IL.

WAMX 4197
Title:  WAMX 4197
Description:  The newest addition to the red and gray brigade. They are no longer done at Horicon, sadly (note the misaligned long hood text, bunched up too close to the end, and lack of "YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AND THE OBLIGATION TO WORK SAFELY" decals above the steps).

(Ex) UP 2158
Title:  (Ex) UP 2158
Description:  I didn't know it at the time, but this SD60M is just days (perhaps even hours) from being renumbered into the WAMX roster and placed into service. There were at least two others in town, nose-in inside the roundhouse and I couldn't get a good shot of them.

Title:  One of the longtime Helm shop queens sits in front of the roundhouse
Description:  HLCX 6334 and 6313 have been on the WSOR property pretty much all of the time since summer 2017 (I believe one of them may have left for a few months). It seems they're almost always in Janesville when I go there.

Same spot, same unit, different day
Title:  Same spot, same unit, different day
Description:  I've now caught 4173/fmr. WSOR 4004 leading trains through Janesville, and taken a shot at this bridge, three times since the start of the year. At least it's a different unit stalking me now (was 4171/fmr. WSOR 4002 for a long time, to a lesser extent 4183/4030 - of course after its 30th Anniversary decals were mostly cooked/peeled off and looked horrible).

Mismatched Doors and Nose Geese
Title:  Mismatched Doors and Nose Geese
Description:  4182 and 4223 (only SD45 carbody on the WSOR) are two of the five (the others being 4181, 4219 and 4197) six-axle units in the "standard" Watco-era version of the red and gray scheme with the thick gray stripe (instead of the narrow, alternating red and gray chevrons) and white goose logo on the short hood. They also both have mismatched all-gray cab doors on the front side. This was done to 4223 sometime in 2020 (I caught it leading in early January still with its proper door), and 4182 sometime between March and September 2020.

I spy a Triclops...
Title:  I spy a Triclops...
Description:  I had made a mental note to try to get a shot of 2158 from this side as I spotted it while chasing 4173's train through Janesville. When I came back, parked and walked over I found that a hostler crew had nosed 4179 right up to it, blocking the view. I walked back to my car and drove to the other end of the yard, only for them to move 4179 back!

WAMX 3947 and 4181
Title:  WAMX 3947 and 4181
Description:  Hostlers and or/yard crews were shuffling around the numerous locomotives present in the Janesville roundhouse/coach yard area throughout the afternoon (previously HLCX 6313 was next to 3947). This is how the Watco-era repaints look with the correct, matching doors. Although, 3947's three-ish year old paint job has some visible chipping/peeling on the engineer's side.

Invasion of the ex-UP SD60Ms
Title:  Invasion of the ex-UP SD60Ms
Description:  "All your roundhouse are belong to us"...6024, 6026 (and a tiny bit of 6025) are visible. The one in the roundhouse at right does not appear to have a number on the long hood end yet. The sole unit in company colors in this photo, recently repainted 40th Anniversary unit 4170 (fmr. WSOR 4001) almost looks out of place.
