Description:  Today we will be making our way north to Duluth, MN where we will begin the main leg of our trip. I wanted to check out the CP yard in Mason City, so while my brother and aunt were getting lunch at Wendys, I went and explored. First thing I grabbed on camera was a parked CP local with a solo GP20C-ECO rebuild.

Description:  The next stop was just north of Manly IA along the IANR. The Iowa Northern has a small deadline here consisting of a corporate paint GP20 and 3 ex-CNW GP7Rs still all in C&NW paint! Though all the engines are just used as parts engines, they still are all in fairly good condition for photos!

ILSX 1390
Title:  ILSX 1390
Description:  The next train stop wasnt until North Branch, MN. In North Branch, the St. Croix Valley RR begins its 20ish mile trackage north to Hinkley MN where it meets the BNSF. The SCRY is jointly owned between ILSX and MLSX, and all but one engine are decorated in a sharp Northern Pacific coat of black and gold (except for the one maroon ILSX engine featured here). In North Branch the railroad serves a grain elevator that doesnt get used very often, but still does on occasion. These two engines are parked for the weekend and I would assume will pull a train in the coming week.

Description:  Upon arrival into Hinckley, I was hoping to find the last of the SCXY painted engines (a GP8 to be specific) at the end of the line. Sadly I could not find it. Thankfully I did not come away from there empty handed, as a BNSF local was tied down on the end of the SCXY trackage with a Dash 9 and a CN C40-8M.
