Album Info:Here are 20 photos of Pennsylvania Railroad diesel-electric locomotives utilized for freight service. All of them were purchased via eBay auctions conducted by Mr. Tim Rose: one on 12 July 2020 and six on 24 August 2020. The photographer's name, the locomotive road number(s), the date, and the location are cited when specified on the slide mount. Most of the slide mounts are annotated "Al Roberts Collection."

Description:  Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 July 1952 ~ 68 years ago today! Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9615 and two more units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9615 is an AF-16 built in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. They are about to pass under the 12th Street Footbridge after descending the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve with a mixed-cargo freight train. Visible at the right are the ancient train shed at the Altoona Passenger Station and a GM-EMD GP-7 waiting for its next passenger helper run up "The Mountain." ("Stoneborobranch"; #1 of 20)

All were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9622 and #9631 are AF-16's and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #9622 was built in November of 1951, while #9631 was produced one month later.
