Viewing Album:  Dillingersville Tunnel PA - Perkiomen Job

Album Info:Ex-Reading Company Perkiomen branch serving some industry in Pennsburg, and interchanging with NS at Emmaus Junction in the Lehigh Valley. Highest elevation on the line is the Dillingersville Tunnel. The railroad tunnels through a ridge that separates the Lehigh River and Schuylkill River drainage basins. The Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike passes over the Dillingersville Tunnel in a cut just south of Vera Cruz, PA. Neither the tunnel nor the tracks are visible from the Turnpike. I was railfanning in Emmaus on the NS Reading line when I heard the Perkiomen job whistling for grade crossings through town, so I headed out to try and grab some photos of this less-frequent operation.
