No "Golden Spike" moment here. O682 comes up from Tampa & heads around the south leg of the wye in Taft & usually encounters Q255's power tied down there. SO, they have to couple up & shove them as far down as necessary to clear up & back around the north leg of the wye to get running back southward to Tampa, setting off in Taft Yard. This particular moment took upwards of 20 minutes. For a crew with only three more hours to work, that's a mighty long time. |

Final Day Of Plant-Lined RofW for Q258 |
| Description: |
The vegetation on the right side of the image might look nice, esp since I was purposly trying to work in the orange & red blooms, but it makes photography of train headed north from Taft Ramp better for telephoto lenses & "head on" images. Only a couple open spots to perch on the fill between it & Rachel's parking lot. Little did I know this would be the last image I'd have to get myself covered in twigs, spurs & other junk for. CSXT had plowed the north side of the rails this day & the following day plowed this side all the way out. This is a prime spot to shoot afternoon/evening northbound trains as they run due west here, especially helpful most of the year as the light tends to favor this side all day. During the summer months the first few hours after sunrise & the last hour before sunset, the light is on the other side. |

Dreams DO come true!! First, all the dead telephone poles along the main & service track at Taft were taken down, opening up a remarkable photo angle. Now, after as many eons of dealing with the overgrown vegetation along the RofW on the Taft Ramp lead that often made photography tricky, CSXT has plowed it all out on both sides by Rachel's (they only did the north side one other time). Figures, they waited to do this for so long, now with the possibility of them moving the intermodal ops to Winter Haven! |
