Album Info:Pete Claussen, a Knoxville attorney and businessman entered the railroad business in the late 1980s-early 1990s with the purchase of several branches. The first was Mississippi Delta RR (MSDR) from IC, followed closely by the Alabama & Florida RR (AFLR) based in Opp, AL and Wiregrass Central Rr (WGCR) in Enterprise, AL both from CSX. Not long after, he purchased former CSX lines in Albany under the Atlantic & Gulf RR (AGLF). The Hartford and Slocumb RR (H&S) and others followed in the 2000s.

This picture is notable for two reasons. The ex ICG GP10 has only recently go a coat of G&O red and it still retains old journal bearing axle covers on its trucks. I would return in a couple of years to find this same unit in the same shape, though fade

The red of the unmarked GP10 had faded to pink after a few years in the hot South Alabama sun. This unit never got any markings other than a quickly fading coat of red.

It is the end of the line for the last two original AGLF units as they sit on the end of the old CofGA transfer with the L&N at Andalusia. By this time Pioneer had taken over the AGLF from Claussen and his G&O Railway after a stint in local hands and GP1

The WGCR kept a stable roster of these three units during several lean years due to drought. The contrast of paint mixes shows the "pink lady" on the end and one of the original units now nore oxide than red.

Description:  The train actually split its power, leaving these in the lead and used a fourth GP38 to pull the cars past the loader so these three could couple up to the end and shove the cuts into the loading cover. A neat way to reverse power on a train without a siding was this novel move.
