Album Info:Interchange at Palmer Four railroad companies come together at Palmer, Mass. CSX (Conrail & NYC) runs east and west thru town, the New England Central (Central Vermont) runs north & south, and the Mass Central (Conrail/NYC) runs north east from Palmer to South Barre, Mass. Additionally, Amtrak runs the Lake Short Limited in east & west every day, as well as the Vermonter with 2 moves across the NECRR/CSX interchange daily. Most of the following photos were taken from the parking area for a nice restaurant, which operates in the train station structure in the S/E corner of the diamond. Description:  The next morning I caught NECR moving cars to the interchange. B4 crossing CSX an NECR crew member makes a call from one of the boxes visible in this photo. The NECR yard (to the left out of the photo) uses this track over the diamond as its switch lead. On this day #4047 made 4 passes over the diamond to make up the short train to the interchange yard. /DL
