Old CofG depot |
Description: |
The old Central of Georgia depot at Leesburg is showing signs of needing some attention. It appears the City of Leesburg uses it for storage. From looking in the windows it was victim of a "modernization" thats included paneling and celetex ceilings. A shame someone doesn't take better care of such a historical building. |

A 6 foot section of severely undermined trackage shows the power of moving water. A small pipe under the track was unable to handle the results of 8 inches of rain in a 8 hour period resulting in the water pushing through the ballast and rushing through to the other side. The railroad was acting as a dam until it was breached by the rising waters. |

Looking timetable south at Thomasville we see the old ACL passenger station to the right of the mainline. The tracks going off to the right form a wye and the old line to Perry FL. I understand it goes as far south as Metcalf FL now. Trackage to the left is remnants of the old AB&C line that used to go all the way to Fitzgerald via Moultrie and Tifton. CSX now operates it as far north as Coolidge GA. |

Passing under an old wooden bridge |
Description: |
Q685 is seen southbound at Talbotton. Just a few miles down the road they went into emergency and the conductor had to walk the train resulting in about a 90 minute delay and sidings filling up with trains. |
