Description:  After learning that there wouldn't be anymore traffic on the DM&E we went over to Mankato to see if the UP was up to anything. Thankfully we saw an approach signal and minutes later this local was seen heading out onto the main. The 1440 was once a Southern Pacific unit, its nose light is a dead give away to that fact.

Description:  After shoot train 487 in various places, we headed over to Owatonna because we knew the DME was sending something down the Austin line. While going through town, Frank saw that UP had a route and light so we did some investigating. Sure enough, just as we got to the crossing the gates tripped and this train came into view.

Description:  Frank and I decided to follow the UP line a little bit before getting on 169. Just outside of Kasota was this awesome looking pair of UP SD60s. It has been WAY too long since I've seen one of these working the rails. We would later get this train at LeSueur, Merriam and Shakopee. It was a very relaxing chase since 169 was good for 65, and the train could only go 49 mph.

Description:  UP 803 (a former MoPac unit) works Valley Park on a beautiful Monday Morning in Shakopee, MN. How did I manage to take this picture when this was a work day for me? The Freestar had to visit the dealer, and I volunteered to take it in, and guess what? Valley Park Yard was right on the way there! Sometime things work out good for me like this. Unfortunately, a two hour car fix turned into four hours...
