Ohio Central power lays over |
Description: |
I was making a delivery in the Youngstown area on a Monday, arrived Saturday night, and had some time to kill. I did the nickel tour of Youngstown as best I could in a bobtail tractor, and found my way to the former EL Brier Hill yard, and some local units waiting on Mondays activity. |

Dodge City dinner train |
Description: |
The Dodge City, Ford & Bucklin was a tourist line that ran a dinner train in the former Rock Island Dodge City Branch, a line that left the Golden State Route at Bucklin-hence the inspiration for the short lines name. Their power was an ex US Army S 1. I caught it at Dodge City. |

Tradition |
Description: |
For many years, D&H and B&M ran their power through onto the other road, and it was not uncommon to see D&H power in Deerfield, or B&M units in Oneonta or Binghamton, years before both roads came under the Guilford umbrella. That practice remains in 2005, even if the colors have changed some. Portland-Mohawk train POMO is led by a set of CP and lease power on the B&M at Pownal. |

Short line catch |
Description: |
I like short lines, but I dont always have the patience to wait out an operation Im not familiar with, and may run sporadically, especially in an area Im not familiar with, so getting short line power at a yard is a good catch. Such was the case on a roll through Fort Smith as part of a larger trip in May 2006, when I still lived in NY. I caught this unit taking some sun at their yard downtown. It looks good in relatively fresh paint. Compare the same unit elsewhere in this album, shot in 2014. |

Amarillo by...never |
Description: |
Looking for all the world like a modern day Rock train, this AOK stone train sits at their yard in Wilburton. Sadly, its unlikely they will ever make Amarillo, as much of the line is pulled up. Note the ex SBD B23 at right. |
