Description:  There were several RS 1s parked in the NYSW yard at Binghamton, among them this unit, 238, and 252. They are not long for the world, and would soon be keeping a date with the torch. A last look at a classic.

Thinks its an Alco
Title:  Thinks its an Alco
Description:  GP 18 1802 is providing the smoke screen as SU 100 gets out of town, passing the Kirkwood Frito Lay plant as it starts its trip down the Erie and into Jersey. Note the difference in the paint schemes. The 3632 is in a newer version of the long time standard, with the top of the unit along the radiator grills and roof now black, much like the BN unit this once was, while the GP 18 retains its original scheme, yellow all the way to the roof.

Odd couple

Description:  It was unusual to see these two units together, especially since 120 spent most of its time in Jersey. I caught them together at the Binghamton shop. An RS 3 and SD 45 are peeking out from behind these two. The variety then was amazing.

Alcos on the Delaware Division
Title:  Alcos on the Delaware Division
Description:  SU 100 rolls past the industrial park in Kirkwood as it heads down the Delaware Division for Jersey. NYSW would run trains with solid Alco consists, though now that there were a lot of stack trains, SU 99 and SU 100 were becoming uncommon, so spectacles such as this were hard to find. Check out the CP box cars in the script lettering.

New unit builders plate
Title:  New unit builders plate
Description:  In April 1989 NYSW started taking delivery of the 20 B40-8s financed by CSX. This is the builders plate off one of them, 4034, which had come in on BUME. They immediately wound up on everything, except perhaps the Northern Division locals, though I would not be surprised if I turn up a shot of one there too. NYSW was not picky about where they used their power. For the most part, they ran on stacks and D&H road trains.
