Coal, but not for here
Title:  Coal, but not for here
Description:  A northbound coal train rolls past the old Jennison Station at Bainbridge. This power plant was an on and off D&H customer, getting most of its coal by truck. If I recall, it was closed by this date in 2001, after NYSEG sold its generating capacity(another NY State inspired boondoggle), and older, less efficient plants were shut down. This train will go to the B&M at Mohawk, and eventually on to Massachusetts.

Description:  A shot I liked to get, though I didnt do it often because you had to stand in the traffic lane on NY 7 to do it, was this view of a southbound coming off the Susquehanna River bridge from Sidney into Bainbridge. I braved the traffic(it was Sunday, not that it makes a lot of difference here) to get this shot of 269 with an ex Conrail leader.

Description:  Trains 268 and 269 were notable for almost always getting a pair of GEs. Once in a while, an EMD would sneak in, and almost never would there be three units or foreign power. Today is exceptional, as 268 has a trio of units, and an ex CR leader, seen on the famous high bridge.

Description:  A couple of years into the takeover, CR units were everywhere, and the NS trains that ran on the D&H were no exception. This is a 269 just south of Oneonta, a place that had seen almost no CR power for that roads entire existence, now getting it on a regular basis. It does look good in the snow!!

Description:  252 rolls south over the Harpursville bridge behind a trio of 40's. The two trailing units are notable. The middle unit is an ex SOU unit that was converted to a B unit by CP; they changed it by removing the seats and control stand, and boarding up the windows-yes, boarding up: they used plywood. The trailing unit is ex Greater Winnipeg Water District, and a trade from CN-note the road number that falls into CN's SD40 series.
