We see 165 rolling north behind a typical set of 40s, with 91 cars in tow, at GR cabin. This was one of my favorite spots to catch a northbound. It was easy to get to, right off NY 7 in Afton-and made a good prop. It was also close enough to Binghamton to chase here, get the shot and get back. A bonus was that there were often meets here, which meant a train both ways. These signals will be replaced by NS, who now owns the line, and one more distinctive feature of northeastern railroading will vanish. |

Train 413 rolls slowly through the south end of Bevier St, at what used to be BX cabin, as the rear of its train is stretched out to BD. Once clear of those obstacles, it will start its run to Belden tunnel in earnest. Todays effort has six units-including one of SOO's five SD60M's-for its 128 cars, a heavy train in this era. |
