Description:  Boone & Scenic Valley car 85 was originally Southern Pacific 10-roomette/-6-double-bedroom sleeper 9044. It was one of 25 plan 4140C cars (SP 9030-9052 and NP 364-365) built under Pullman-Standard Lot No. 6874 in 1950 for CASCADE, OVERLAND, CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO, GOLDEN STATE and LARK service. The 9044 was built for the CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO; it was one of five cars (9041-9045) rebuilt with a blunt end in 1953 and was retired in 1968. (approximate month)

Title:  CNJ 104 (Ex GN 1130)
Description:  Although lettered for the Central Railway of New Jersey, coach 104 was owned by the New Jersey Department of Transportation and leased to the CNJ. Built by Pullman-Standard in 1947 as Great Northern 1130, the car was originally fitted with 48 seats and was remodeled with 108 seats when sold to NJDOT in 1973. (approximate month)

Description:  Metropolitan Transit Authority-Central coach 2452 was built by Pullman-Standard in 1938 as Santa Fe 14-section sleeper HAKATAI. It was one of six Plan 4065 cars in PS lot 6532, and all of these were remodeled into 44-seat coaches 2950-2955 in 1955. They were sold to the MTA in 1970 where their capacity was increased to 78 seats and they were renumbered 2450-2455. The 2452 was retired in 1977 as a result of wreck damage. (approximate month)

Description:  This 56-seat coach was built by the Budd Co. in 1947 as New York Central 2923, one of 60 cars (2900-2959) in Lot 9613. This car was renumbered Penn Central 1430 after the Pennsy-NYC merger in 1968, although it obviously retained its NYC lettering, became Amtrak 5635 in 1976, and was retired in 1977. Description:  Penn Central 84-seat coach 1487 was built by the Budd Co. in November 1949 as Norfolk & Western sleeper ROANOKE COLLEGE. It was one of 20 Plan 9523 10-roomette/6-double-bedroom N&W cars in Budd Lot 9660. All of these were sold to the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1963, which remodeled them into coaches 1480-1499. This car retained its same number on the Penn Central, and was sold to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania at Strasburg in 1978. (approximate month)

Description:  Penn Central 76-seat coach 1519 was built by the Budd Co. in April 1949 as Pennsylvania Railroad sleeper HAMILTON INN. It was one of 50 Plan 9513 21-roomette cars in Budd Lot 9667, and the Pennsy remodeled all of these into coaches 1500-1549 in 1963. They retained their same numbers on the Penn Central, although this car still retains its Pennsy-style number at one end and a PRR Keystone emblem next to its vestibule. The 1519 became Southeast Michigan Transportation Authority (SEMTA) 101 later in 1976. (approximate month)

Description:  Penn Central 7129 ALEXANDER HAMILTON was a Pullman plan 9529 blunt-end observation car built by Budd in January 1952 as Pennsylvania Railroad 7129. It and its twin 7128 GEORGE WASHINGTON had 18 parlor seats, a buffet, and a 25-seat lounge; and were built for service on the CONGRESSIONAL. They became Amtrak 3711 and 3712 in 1976 and were retired the next year. (approximate month)

Description:  BARON DE KALB was a Pullman Plan 9526 parlor car built by Budd in November 1951 as Pennsylvania Railroad 7138. It had 29 parlor seats and a drawing room, and was one of 16 such cars built for service on the SENATOR and CONGRESSIONAL. The cars subsequently received a food service galley, and retained their same numbers on the Penn Central. This was the only one of the 16 cars that was not acquired by Amtrak. (approximate month)
