Album Info:On a bitterly cold Jan. 16, 1980, I took my brand new Pentax K-1000 to 30th Street station in Philadelphia. All of the pictures in this album were shot within 3 hours. The ease of access for railfans is mind boggling by today's standards. Especially for a long haired 18-year old with a camera. The first group was taken in Race St. Enginehouse, the locomotive service area adjacent to the station. After 15 minutes , an employee asked what I was doing there, I said "leaving". He said that was a great idea. After that, I simply went through the station to the main concourse, went down to the last platform walked out to the end, down a few steps, across an active track and there I was... Note: These negatives were shot on Fuji Film. The colors have deteriorated with a yellow green caste. Many are also scratched due to improper storage (paper clips).
