Album Info:These were all taken during my first vacation to the Pacific Northwest. As luck would have it there was a nationwide railroad strike.

Description:  BUTTE MT Sept 26 1978 -- Burlington Northern GP9 1737 is idled by a nationwide railroad strike. EMD built the unit in February 1957 (s/n 22782) as Northern Pacific 299. It was retired on June 27 1986, sold to Naporano Iron and Metals. . EMD built the unit (s/n 28267) in April 1963 as Great Northern 3006 and delivered in simple Empire Builder paint. BN retired it on Dec 14 1988. In July 1989 was rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen as BN GP39M 2812 and became BNSF 2812. It was retired on Sept 5 1989, rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen in December 1989 as BN GP39M 2829 and became BNSF 2829. Title:  MILW 16, this one had a crew
Description:  ALBERTON MT Sept 26 1978 -- Milwaukee SD40-2 16 awaits clearance to proceed. A nationwide rail strike is in progress and I assume this engine is crewed by management personnel.
