Doubleheaded power
Title:  Doubleheaded power
Description:  Not exactly. My guess is the MP 15 power pack was not the unit the engineer wanted in the lead, so he swapped the GP 38 from the west end. Its also possible its just a power swap. Either way, its an unconventional arrangement. Rolling through Mineola late at night.

4012 again

4012 with 2
Title:  4012 with 2
Description:  A pair of GP 38s lead 4012, as is typical til late October. Even though the summer weekender and vacation season officially ends on Labor Day, many rider still take advantage of the parlor cars til late October. The railroad accomodates these travelers by running the cars til the weather gets too cold for the beach.

Still the same
Title:  Still the same
Description:  Not much had changed on the Island in the five years since I last lived there, though that would change dramatically in the next few years, with new cars and power. On this warm night in May 1993, it was just another night like most of the last 15 years as the last Oyster Bay train of the evening made its Mineola stop.
