Description:  HEAVENER OK April 1977 -- Kansas City Southern SD40-2 637 handles a mixed freight on a dreary day. The 637 was the first SD40-2 built and Kansas City Southern's first SD40-2. It was built by EMD (s/n 7226-1) in January 1971. In 2005 it was renumbered KCS 3200. A report on Trainorders indicates it was sent to Metro East Industries in October 2011. Description:  KANSAS CITY MO March 10 1979 -- The 637 was Kansas City Southern's first SD40-2. It was built by EMD (s/n 7226-1) in January 1971. In 2005 it was renumbered KCS 3200. Description:  For a brief period of time in 1993 coal trains destined for the Daniel Electric Generating Plant near Escatawpa, Mississippi operated on a test route that took them through New Orleans where they were handed off from the KCS to the CSX. At the time there were no other regular coal train movements through the Crescent City making this a rather unique move. The loaded trains operated on the KCS as train No. 89. Here we see train No. 89 approaching Alliance Avenue near Frellsen Junction behind KCS SD40-2 637 (the first SD40-2 ever built) and sister KCS SD40-2 646. Description:  The outbound crew on 154 is backing down to C&G Jct (old V-line to Greenwood and Columbia) to pick up cars brought in on the previous days "River Street" local to Donaldson Center before recoupling up with the rest of its train from Atlanta. The pureness of the KCS power would be ended after NS 5143 was retrieved for movement north.
