Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8705 and #8703. Both are FS-24M road switchers built by Fairbanks-Morse in September of 1956 and rated at 2,400 horsepower each. They are serving as rear-end pushers on a mixed-cargo freight train that has already begun passing through the New Portage Tunnel on its way down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Altoona and points East. |
