PRR 9739, BF-16, 1964
Title:  PRR 9739, BF-16, 1964
Description:  4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 23 September 1964. Shown here are PRR engines #9739, #2008-B, and #9701. All were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #9739 and #2008-B are BF-16's built in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #9701 is a BF-15A built in 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are stopped just short of the 4th Street Bridge, awaiting orders to pull a mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Visible on the right is Altoona's one-track loading and unloading facility for TrucTrain flatcars. Photo taken from the 4th Street Bridge.
