NYC 4-8-4 #6000 - New York Central
Title:  NYC 4-8-4 #6000 - New York Central
Description:  Very intriguing photo here. This is the iconic NYC 4-8-4 Niagra (NYC's nickname for Northerns) without its massive elephant ear smoke deflectors. Although built by Alco-Schenectady as the first line production unit delivered in 1945, the date on the photo is August 10, 1945. The loco seems a bit worn for this date and the missing smoke deflectors just adds to the confusion. The location does fit with the Lake Shore Limited run that these sleek machines used to head up however. No photographer listed for the photo.
