Here is 3380 as an O-7, unsure of the date and location but it would be before 1946, when it was rebuilt as an O-8. Notice the closed-cab and unique bell placement among other differences. In 1946 it was rebuilt using an ALCO boiler and was completed the day after Christmas. |

Very nice b&w photo from the original negative of the beefy Great Northern 2-8-2 Mikado #3380. This loco was rebuilt by the Great Northern from their original build of 2-6-8-0 monster that proved to have too many problems associated with it. Speces - O-7 class, 69" drivers, 31" x 32" cylinders, a 210 psi boiler pressure, exerted 79,554 pounds of tractive effort and each weighed 348,000 pounds. All in the class were scrapped by the early 1960's. No photographer was listed for the negative but Jason Schaedler (see comment below) listed quite an informative comment on the photographer, Robert Graham, and the locomotive.
