PRR 9724, BF-16, #1 of 2, 1964
Title:  PRR 9724, BF-16, #1 of 2, 1964
Description:  FSF. Here is the first of two duplicate 35mm color slides via Al Chione that were taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in August of 1964. The photographer is not identified. At center-left are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9724 and a "BF" Class B-unit whose road number is not recorded. #9724 is a BF-16 constructed by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in March of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966. At center-right are PRR engine #2213 and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #2213 is an EF-22 built in March of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. Both trains have changed engine and train crews, and await movement orders to proceed up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. At the far left are several passenger cars parked next to the PRR's largely-defunct Passenger Car Shops. Photo taken from the 4th Street Footbridge. ("PrrFan18n")
