Off lease, off roster, off to be scrapped
Title:  Off lease, off roster, off to be scrapped
Description:  GE's early US-market U25Bs bore many features from the export Universal-series models it was developed from. Frisco would buy these demonstrator units, then sold them back to GE. They would later be leased out to power-short Conrail until it had enough new locomotives of its own to replace many of the antiques, orphans, and beaters it inherited. Now no. 807 and no. 805 await a tow to their final stop, Naporano Iron & Metal, to be cut up and reformed into actual GE toasters. A. C. Specht photo, from the Ralph L.
