Amtrak "Pacific Surfliner" #784 is due to depart Fullerton, California, at 5:40 pm. But, due to delays north of Los Angeles, the train is running a little late - arriving in Fullerton at 6:25. Thanks to a tip from friend Charles Freericks (who saw the train in L.A.), I was able to grab this shot of the train, led by F59PHI 457 in a new Operation Lifesaver wrap. Knowing the 457 was on the point caused me to search out an angle to shoot, whereas I might otherwise have concentrated on a westbound due at about this time because it had the "better" light. In retrospect, I like this light much better! (Thanks, Charles!) |

On December 29th, 2013, Amtrak "Pacific Surfliner" #777 (San Diego CA to San Luis Obispo CA) passes the construction site for the new Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC). Located near the present Anaheim station, ARTIC is situated between Angel Stadium (MLB's Angels) and the Honda Center (NHL's Ducks) – and not far from Disneyland – and will serve Amtrak, Metrolink, transit buses, tour buses and, they hope, the planned high speed rail line connecting southern California to northern California.
