Description:  CN local passes Intertape Polymer Group, IPG, 741 4th St., Menasha, WI, and crosses the former Manitowoc St. grade crossing via the former joint MILW/SOO rails at Menasha, WI on 10 Dec. '17. Founded in Menasha in Dec. 1917 as George Banta Paper Co., an affiliate of the George Banta Publishing Co. They merged with Menasha’s Gebrick Paper Co. in ’19 and continued under the Banta name. The name was changed to Central Paper Products Co. (later shortened to Central Paper Co.) ca. Sep. ’20, about the same time they moved to their new location at 422 Manitowoc St. on the north side of the joint MILW/SOO tracks. It’s the same facility, but the address changed when a portion of Manitowoc St. was vacated to allow westward expansion ca. ’76-’80. The facility was acquired by Alco Standard Corp., based in Valley Forge, PA, ca. 29 Sep. ’69 but continued to operate as Central Paper. The name changed to Central Products Co. at some point after ’74. Spinnaker Industries, Inc. purchased Central Products Co. from Alco ca. 1 Jul. ‘95. Intertape Polymer Group, Inc., from Canada, purchased Central Products from Spinnaker ca. 12 Apr. ’99. Train was returning from the Hilbert-area and will complete some work in Menasha before heading back to the former SOO yard at Neenah, WI.

Description:  CN local shoves 4 boxcars past the idle Earl Litho Printing Co. facility, 1486 Earl St., and across Midway Rd. via former MILW rails at Menasha, WI on 10 Dec. '17. I'm not sure when the facility closed. When I saw its current condition, I feared that it was being razed. I was surprised to learn that someone wants to remodel it for continued industrial use. I hope they succeed. The boxcars were destined for LSC Communications, Inc. (formerly RR Donnelley, originally Banta Corp.), out of frame to the right.

Description:  A CN local momentarily fouls N. Lake St. as it prepares to service local industries via former SOO rails at Neenah, WI on 17 Dec. '17. After pausing in the small ancillary yard behind Clearwater Paper Corp., local was about to execute the nearly 3-mile shove to a pair of warehouses at the intersection of Clayton Ave. and Winchester Rd./Hwy. II. The first car in the consist is also GTW. Eggers Industries (originally Hardwood Products Corp.), 164 N. Lake St., Neenah, WI, is partially visible at left. Clearwater Paper Corp., formerly Kimberly-Clark’s Lakeview mill, 249 N. Lake St., Neenah, WI (physically located in Fox Crossing, WI (formerly Town of Menasha, WI until 14 Apr. '16)), looms in the background.
