CRI&P U28B 264
Title:  CRI&P U28B 264
Description:  CRI&P U28B 264, Blue Island, Illinois, October 1979, photo by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built during October 1966 (c/n 36158), owned by the UP and leased to the Rock Island. After the Rock shut down in 1980, the unit was returned to the UP, becoming UP 502 on April 15, 1980. It was scrapped in 1982. It is equipped with "frog eyes" on the corners of the cab roof, and early version of ditch lights, although they seem to be in disrepair. It also displays one of the many permutations of the corporate name. Near the end of its existance, Rock Island's maintenance programs were somewhat lacking, and carbody doors often got swapped from side to side and between units, in this case resulting in "Ro laland". There are a couple of Bankrupt Blue doors tossed in for good measure.
