Westbound Labadie coal train at Theresa Avenue. MP 3141 was later UP 4141, rebuilt 3/98 to SD38-2 UP 2825. Second unit MP 3154 was originally C&EI 3154, and was one of only a handful of Mopac units to wear "double eagles" with the large screaming eagle on the side of the hood and the smaller eagle in the buzzsaw logo on the cab side. She was later UP 3154, UP 9903. Date of photo approximate. |

MP 3103, 3141, and one other unit move through the (non-interlocked) junction at 80th Street, Chicago early in 1985. Just as these engines approached, a (very kind) MoPac policeman was telling me that the area around this spot was "no place for a man with a gun, let alone a girl without one!" but instead of running me off, he waited with me until I made the picture. Then I high-tailed it right on outta there! Ahh, the stupidity of youth. (date approx) |

WAGONER OK April 1985 -- In this undated photo Missouri Pacific SD40-2 3141 leads a mixed freight through an area which once had much more trackage. EMD built the unit in 1974 as C&EI 3141. Upon merger with the Union Pacific it became UP 4141. UP rebuilt the unit to SD38-2 2825 March 16 1998. On Dec 12 2001 it became UPY 825. (Date approximate, roster information from utahrails.net) |
