Pushing hard
Title:  Pushing hard
Description:  The pushers on this PYRP are into the climb and working hard. The head end is in the steep part of the grade approaching Moottown Rd, working to roll their almost 100 cars to the tunnel and over the top. Shot at Hanock Rd in Sanitaria Springs.

Stone bridge
Title:  Stone bridge
Description:  PYRPs pushers cross NY 7 on the stone arch bridge. Seen from a side road off NY 7, this shows the scenic beauty of this part of the D&H. As I write this in 2015, this shot is pretty well treed in.

Pushing it in
Title:  Pushing it in
Description:  PYRPs helpers push the train right into the tunnel before cutting off. The signal guards the tunnel entrance, which has a door on it to keep out the elements during bad weather. It helps prevent icing in the tunnel.

MEBU in the corn
Title:  MEBU in the corn
Description:  This field in Owego was a favorite vantage point. There was a good, open view of the tracks, and the crops changed periodically, so it was always a new view from season to season, and year to year. Heres MEBU with a pair of GEs bracketing one of NRLs F 45s. How about that Rio Grande auto rack head out??

Description:  Just east of MP 233 there is a short stand of trees on either side of the tracks. The anticipation builds as you hear the train approaching, then burst from the shade. Tele view from Miller Beach Rd of MEBU.

Description:  A view of MEBU coming though Waverly shows the lay of town. On the right is CR customer Leprino Foods. On the left is the row of buildings down town, just beyond the Fulton St crossing. The train is about to pass Ted Clark's Busy Market, a Waverly landmark, just out of the photo to the left.

Fields of gold
Title:  Fields of gold
Description:  The time between when the corn went brown til the first snow could have some wonderful light, especially late in the day, when it made all the corn and grasses take on this golden hue. MEBU rolls west between Chemung and Wellsburg past one of those cornfields. Scenes like this made it a joy to chase in the Southern Tier, despite the lack of density compared to the Chicago Line or the ex PRR.

Good looking leader
Title:  Good looking leader
Description:  The brightness of the yellow on NYSW 3636 will help its visibility on this (typical)gloomy day as it rolls BUME east at Waverly. Note the dropping semaphore at left above the boxcar in the siding. When was the last time you saw a freight with not one, but two, F 45's in regular service??

No its not Billings
Title:  No its not Billings
Description:  Despite the two BN painted units. About this time, a lot of BN SD 45s came off lease/were sold by BN, and wound up all over America on lease fleets and regionals. NYSW, aside from having a fleet of its own ex BN power, also leased a number of these units while running the D&H. We see two at East Binghamton
