Description:  This ex-D&H/UP GP39-2 is one of two brought onto the WSOR system by new owner Watco in 2014. In summer 2015 it was painted into full WSOR livery to commemorate the railroad's 35th anniversary. Sister 3947 remains in its patched UP yellow.

Title:  Over the hills and through the woods
Description:  The WSOR's Plymouth Subdivision, part of the Milwaukee Road's line north from Milwaukee to Green Bay and the UP of Michigan, zig-zags its way through the scenic Kettle Moraine region of eastern Wisconsin. The line is no longer intact as a through route, but this section from Saukville to Plymouth, Elkhart Lake and Kiel owes its continued existence to the state of Wisconsin and WSOR.

In the distance you can see the junction with the Vita Spur near Olin Avenue. Some of Madison's newer (and pricier) high rise apartments and condos loom in the distance, a stark contrast to my photo location on Badger road.

Description:  The crew brings their train to the diamond at the old site of Tower MX, a one-time crossing of busy C&NW and MILW lines. The junction still sees regular use - the daily freight between Janesville and Madison takes the connector track, and various local jobs cross the diamond and use the connector tracks to access the branch lines as they go about their duties.
