PRR 7110, EFS-17M, 1964
Title:  PRR 7110, EFS-17M, 1964
Description:  Gallitzin. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 13 September 1964. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #7110, #7180-B, #7015, and #7185. All are EFS-17M's built by EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7110, #7180-B, and #7185 were built in 1957 ~ but #7015 was built in 1955. They are about to pass under the State Route 53 Bridge with a 97-car coal train on its way down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Altoona and points East. The caboose is #477746. There are also three EMD units coupled to the end of this train, their purpose being to help brake the train on its way down the Mountains.
