When BHP Arizona sold off its Alco fleet in 2002, I made the call about these two units. Yes, they were for sale, and cheap. I talked it over with the FNW board, and we decided to go for it. But, by the time I called back to AZ a couple of days later, both had been sold to Blacklands RR in Texas. Argh. Strangely, both wound up at my nearest railroad museum in OK years later, and I've since worked on #2. Small world. Shot at the Oklahoma Railway Museum in 2007. |
