| Description: |
This powerful 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive started out as Wabash 2-10-2 #2517. It was built by ALCo-Brooks in July of 1917 (serial #57569). Wabash handed over the loco to the middleman Georgia Car & Loco Company who brokered a deal for the sale to Chicago & Illinois Midland on February 12, 1942. The loco was officially retired in May of 1955 and scrapped. Specs - G-4 class, 64" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 29x32" cylinders, engine weight of 395,000 lb, tractive effort of 75,079 lb. It lasted just two years on the CIM roster before retirement and scrapped occurred in March of 1952.
