Description:  Sitting in front of the CN Stratford Yard roundhouse is the 1910 4-6-2 Pacific built by the Grand Trunk Rwy shops as their #222 (serial #1505). Description:  Long before a GP38 loco carried the number "5579", this 4-6-2 Pacific built by the Grand Trunk shops in 1911 had the honor. It was originally GTR #202 (serial #1524, class K-3-b) but renumbered in 1923 as CN 5579. The loco was retired and scrapped in March of 1960. Unknown photographer

Description:  Great double header action shot taken by Anthony H. Perles. Note on back of photo states"CNR 5585 and 5143 (K-3) starting a westbound coal drag at London & Port Stanley interchange." Info on CN 5585 - Built by GTR shops, 1911, nee-GTR 210, boiler #1510, GTR class P1, renumbered by CN in 1923 to #5585. The loco was retired in August of 1956. Info on CN 5143 - MLW, June of 1920, J-4-e class, boiler #61878. The loco was retired August of 1961.

Title:  LPS L2 & a pair of CN Pacifics
Description:  A note on the back by photographer Anthony H. Perles states "L&PS L2 at CNR interdange, while CNR 4-6-2's 5585 and 5143 (class K-3) get under way with a coal drag westbound." The L2 )along with its 2 other sisters) was built in 1915 by GE of Canada for a cost of $29,367. After retiring, it was stored for a museum which never materialized. L2 was later sold privately and moved to the Toronto area. In February 1997, L2 was moved to the Halton County Radial Railway following its donation to the OERHA.

Description:  Running along the open countryside with its passenger train is Canadian National 4-6-2 Pacific #5588. This loco was built by the Grand Trunk Rwy shops in 1911 as GTR #240 but in 1923, moved to the CN roster as their #5588 (serial #1513, class K-3-b). The loco was one of the fortunate few that was not scrapped but instead, placed on display in Windsor, Ontario, Canada circa early 1970's. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo.

Description:  Dramatic nighttime shot taken by Don Wood of Canadian National 4-6-2 Pacific #5588 stopped at the Owen Sound, Ontario, station during a night passenger run. The loco was built by the Grand Trunk Rwy shops in 1911 as GTR #213 (serial #1513, class K-3-b) but landed on the CN roster as their #5588 in the 1923 merger. The loco was donated to and put on display in Windsor, Ontario, Canada in December of 1962.. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo but the Owen Sound station sign is visible in the background. Bruce Gemmel filled in the missing date and photographer plus corrected the loco number. I am truly indebted to you, Bruce, for your help!

CN 5595, was built by the GTR shops as GTR 223 in 1912, GTR class P3. When it was absorbed into the CN roster in 1923, it was renumbered #5595. The loco was scrapped in June of 1957.

Description:  Parked next to am iconic water tower is Canadian National 4-6-2 #5601. This loco went through several renumberings during its lifetime. Originally built as Grand Trunk Rwy #201 by the GTR shops in 1910, it was renumbered GTR #291 in 1911, renumbered GTW 5601 in 1923 and finally moved onto the CN roster in November of 1924. (Serial #1501, GTR class P4, CN class K-3-d) The loco was scrapped in November of 1960 after 50 years of service. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo but Bruce Gemmel found the info. This is a Harold Kinzie photo taken at Durham, Ontario, on July 23, 1955. The engine will take the empty gondolas at far left to a nearby gravel quarry. Many thanks, Bruce, for your help!
