MILW 2-6-2 #901 - Milwaukee Road
Title:  MILW 2-6-2 #901 - Milwaukee Road
Description:  Built by ALCO-Brooks in October of 1907, it originally carried the CM&StP #1904. In 1912, it was renumbered CMStP #5004 and again as CMStPP (MILW) #5004. Finally in 1938, it was renumbered one more time to MILW #901. After nearly 46 years of service the loco was retired and scrapped in February of 1953. Specs - 63" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 21 1/2x 28" cylinders, engine wt of 209,000 lb, tractive effort of 32,310 lb. Arthur B. Johnson photo

Description:  Here is a typical winter railroad scene in Wisconsin, circa 1950, with the Alco-Brooks built 2-6-2 Prairie style lcoomotive #911 at the head of a manifest freight in Cedarburg, WI. Originally built in 1907 as #1941, it was renumbered to 5041 in 1912, and renumbered again to 911 in 1938. Specs - class K1, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21.5x28" cylinders, engine weight of 205,550 lb, tractive effort of 34,926 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo and the date is approximate.

Description:  Starting life as a 1907 Alco-Brooks built Prairie-style locomotive with number 1944, it was renumbered to 5044 in 1912, and renumbered in 1938 to 912. This photo from the R.L. Schmeling collection catches the loco at an iconic water tower at an unidentified location. Date was not give so an approximate one was used.

Description:  Long before an S12 Diesel unit wore the number 922, this 1908 Alco-Brooks Prairie-style loco wore it. Originally numbered 2034, it was renumbered to 5534 in 1912, and was renumbered in 1938 to the 922 shown here. A handwritten note on back of the photo states -"Branch line run in Wisconsin." No date, location or photographer was given for this photo unfortunately.
