Title:  WLE 2-8-2 #6020 - Wheeling & Lake Erie
Description:  This Alco-Brooks Mikado was delivered 10/1918 as an M-1 class locomotive. Photographer C.W. Burns noted on the back "One of 20, St'd tender". It was renumbered on 1/9/1951 to NKP 690. Eventually the locomotive was sold for scrap on 5/3/56 to Luntz Iron & Steel. The day in 1938 is approximate. This is a February, 1968 reprint from his negative.

Description:  Built by Alco-Brooks in sometime in February of 1917, this 2-8-2 Mikado was originally built as Pittsburgh, McKeesport & Youghiogheny #9558 (serial #56781, class H-8b), a subsidiary member of the NYC. In February 29, 1948, it and a few other sister Mikados were sent to the Monongahela RR and renumbered #198. No information was included on the photo so the date and location are arbitrary.

The PMcK&Y loco was probably relabeled in 1936 to NYC 9589. Eventually it was retired and sold for scrap in 1951 The date on this photo is 10/6/1951 which means it probably is the last photo ever taken of the loco while it sat in the scrap line here. Specs - 57" drivers, 26.5" x 30" cylinders, a 190 psi boiler pressure,T.E. of 56,691 lb, E.Wt 320,500 . Harry A. Frye collection

Description:  Here is a postal card which could be titled "Pennsylvania 9631." No Postmark. No Caption. This exact photo appears in "The 50 Best of PRR by Bob Lorenz," page 34. Partial Caption: "PRR didn't like USRA Light Mikados, and that was that. Assigned a batch during World War I, she disposed of all save five and kept those five near Cincinnati. This is L-2s 9631 at Cincinnati in 1938. Built by Alco-Schenectady in [March of] 1919, the 9631 lasted until [August of] 1948. She actually started as GR&I 112, and picked up the number 9631 in 1921."
