New York Atlantic Railway-Gateway Bridge across New York Harbor
The Gateway Bridge across the Upper New York Bay between Brooklyn and Bayonne would be the final link in the New York Connecting Railway, allowing freight traffic to and from Long Island and the New York Ports and the North American mainland. The bridge would have a world record span of 8000 feet (2.44 km) and two tracks on the upper level and 6 motor vehicle lanes on the lower level.
