Travel Town was the brainchild of LA County Park's employee Charlie Atkins. In the 1950s, many local railroads donated steam engines to Travel Town, but over the years, the collection was put under the responsbility of those who didn't care about saving these artifiacts, simply allowing them to rust away. Today, things are vastly improved, as the city has changed Travel Town's focus from being a playground to being a museum.

Kevin Drake General do you have any pictures of CPLT no.2? (on the right side of the picture here) 10/1/2008 3:05:05 PM
Kevin Hunt General I always wanted to see a photo of this engine, thanks and by the way WP 26 is a 2-8-2. 9/3/2009 2:47:59 PM
Craig Meador General What brought me to look at this engine was an episode of Adam-12. reed & maloy chased two robbers into this area and shot them both. One of them was on top of this engine and Reed shot him off of it. Pretty neat way to find out about this great old engine. 1/6/2010 8:34:51 PM
