Crossing the Nooksack  Contributor's Pick!
BN's Intalco Local crosses the Nooksack River at Ferndale WA in May 1994. GP38-2 2084 leads sister 2267. The swing section of the bridge would seem to indicate that at some point the mighty Nooksack was considered a navigable river.

S.L. Dixon General "The Mighty Nooksack", love it. My late wife and I were speculating on the meaning of "Nooksack" and I came up with "floods every year". 10/31/2009 3:19:20 AM
Erik Hilsinger General http://www.bellinghamherald.com/special-pub/centennial/160531.shtml Nice picture of river boat on Nooksack. Same deal with the Skagit River-steamboats almost like the Mississippi cut through the deep old growth forests by water faster than they could log until power equipment came on line. 2/20/2011 3:52:54 PM
S.L. Dixon General This bridge was built with the knowledge that the "Steamer-Boat" era was no more. 1/24/2015 5:59:06 AM
