| The Empire Builder is in big trouble just a few hundred feet away from the Grand Forks, North Dakota depot. After departing on a clear signal following a 5 minute station stop, the lead locomotive suddenly lost its main reservoir pressure and came to a stop at the site pictured here. The train remained here for about 3 hours, until the Amtrak crew with the assistance of mechanics from the Grand Forks yard decided that the lead locomotive was inoperative and would need to be set out. |
