Dual-Flags Crossing Excelsior Boulevard  Contributor's Pick!
An brace of 38-2's -one ex-Soo, the other ex-Soo/MILW back on home rails this day- cross Excelsior Boulevard pushing three full Soo hoppers full of ballast as the 0630 job makes an appearance on the old Milwaukee Road before returning to the old MNS mainline in St. Louis Park. Last I saw of them, the crew was pulling up onto the spur track across from the Depot Coffehouse on the Three Rivers trail where two empty Soo hoppers sat parked (along with a track scale car which has been there for weeks. Not coupled to any of the other freight cars that have been parked there.) The ballast was apparently for MOW work. All in all, this was a pleasant surprise catch. Note "Milwaukee Street" on the streelight. This street borders the ex-Milwuakee CP/TCW line from Exclesior Blved to down by the 169 overpass. Where it becomes another street going south.
